Birth
Barent Lewis was born on December 18, 1776 in Rhinebeck, Dutchess Co., NY a son of Abraham Lewis and Leah Van Wagenen[1]
Marriage & Children
He married on December 12, 1802 at the Reformed Church in New Salem, Caroline L. Waggoner who was born at about 1786, a daughter of Barent Van Wagenen[1]. They had the following known children:
- Henry Lewis b. about 1810
- Catherine Lewis b. about 1814, married Nicholas Pangburn
- Abraham Lewis b. October 22, 1816, married Lavina Ward
- Rachel Lewis b. March 27, 1819
- Sarah Lewis b. about 1822
- John T.W. Lewis b about 1830
Death
Barent died in 1848 and was buried in the family burial ground on his farm. Caroline died in 1867 and is buried beside him. [1]
