At about 1835 David married Hannah Lamphier the widow of Alexander Dunbar. She was born on August 3, 1800, a daughter of _______Levi(?) and Elizabeth Lamphire. There were no known children born of this marriage, but David and Hannah “adopted” the two orphaned children of his brother George sometime between 1842 and 1845. Their names were:

  • David Lester born about 1841, died on September 28, 1850
  • Stephen V. Lester born about 1842, died on September 28, 1850

Comments

After the murders of David and Stephen Lester and the execution of Hannah’s son Reuben Dunbar for those murders, David and Hannah left Albany County. They settled in Clifton Park in Saratoga County and lived out their lives there. They were a generous family and throughout most of the rest of their lives they had other family members living with them, and David’s will demonstrates this in his every provision.

Death

David died on August 6, 1881. Hannah died on August 8, 1883. They were buried beside each other at the Baptist Church Cemetery in Clifton Park, Saratoga County, NY.
