Mr. Lendrum was born in Berne to the late Daniel and Ada Lendrum. He was a graduate of Berne-Knox High School and Albany Business College. Mr. Lendrum served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. at Okinawa during World War II. Fred then worked for the U.S. Post Office in Berne as a rural letter carrier for 36 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Berne. He was the husband of the late Jeanette Lendrum, who died in 1989.

Mr. Lendrum was born in Berne to the late Daniel and Ada Lendrum. He was a graduate of Berne-Knox High School and Albany Business College. He served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps in Okinawa, Japan, during World War.

After the war, he worked as a rural letter carrier for the United States Post Office in Berne. He was known for his dedication to the route.

"People didn't wonder if the mail was coming, it was just a matter of when it was going to come," Steven Lendrum said. "I had to get him off of West Mountain with a snowmobile more than once."

Mr. Lendrum was a sports enthusiast. As a young man, he played baseball for Berne's town team. Later,- he played for his church, using the same old-fashioned webless glove he had used in his younger years.

"We used to call it a rag," his son said. After his retirement in 1985, Mr. Lendrum spent his winters in the Florida Keys. There, he took up golf and trout fishing. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Berne. Mr. Lendrum was the husband of the late Jeanette Lendrum, who died in 1989. He is survived by his son, Steven Lendrum, and his wife, Sue, of Berne; his daughter, Sharon Nevins, of Round Lake; his daughter, Nancy Lendrum, of East Berne; his daughter, Connie McCarthy, and her husband, John, of Clarksville; his grandson Ron Lendrum and his wife, Donna, of Huntersland; his granddaughter Cheryl Lendrum of Marcellus; his grandsons Andrew and Stephen McCarthy of Clarksville; and his great-grandchildren, Heidi Kruse and Heather Lendrum, of Huntersland.
