Deceased Name: Landauer, Jason A.

KNOX Jason A. Landauer, 36, died suddenly and tragically doing one of the many things that he loved on Sunday, May 27, 2007 in the town of Mayfield.

Born May 23, 1971 in Albany, he resided in the town of Knox his whole life. Jason lived his life with a moderate zeal to excel in whatever he set his mind to. Whether it be snowmobiling, camping, motorcycling, flying or his trade; he did his best to achieve the ultimate results. Jason also enjoyed his many friends with whom he shared his many passions. He was always willing to help someone that needed a hand and to give a quick jerk of his head and a smirk to help pick up the spirit of someone who might be down.

He is survived by his mother, Lona I. Landauer and her friend, Roger Nickel; his father, Jeff Landauer and his wife Debbie; his younger brother, Justin Landauer who will miss him with his whole heart; his nephew, Cadan and Cadan's mom, Erika; his grandmother, Shirley Landauer; his grandfather, Jim Stroud; his best friends, Kelli, Tracey and Kipper. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins and the list would go on forever if all were included. Jason would not want anyone to mourn his passing, but to merely remember him with perhaps a smile or a thought of the things he has done in his life to brighten up someone else's life. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, 4-8 p.m.

Jason Landauer: Motorcyclist dies in charity ride: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice

Times Union, The (Albany, NY) - Wednesday, May 30, 2007

Deceased Name: Jason Landauer: Motorcyclist dies in charity ride

A lifelong motorcycle enthusiast from Knox died in Fulton County this weekend while taking part in a "poker run" organized as part of the annual American Motorcycle Jamboree festivities. Jason Landauer, 36, was killed at about noon Sunday as he rode along Route 29 near Broadalbin with about a dozen other motorcyclists, State Police said.

The riders were traveling two abreast along the highway, troopers said. Landauer was near the center lane, with Theodore Canape, 61, to his right. As the group approached Bellen Road, Landauer turned to the right, hitting Canape, troopers said. Both riders went off the right side of the road, and Landauer struck a road sign with his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville for an autopsy. Canape suffered only scrapes and bruises. Both men were wearing helmets, State Police spokeswoman Maureen Tuffey said.

Poker runs are popular charity events with motorcycle groups. Riders pay a fee to enter and then stop at designated bars and restaurants to pick up one poker card at each locale. At the end of the run, the person with the best poker hand wins a prize. Part of the proceeds go to charity. Alcohol or drugs were not believed to play a role in the crash, said Tuffey. Landauer's family described him as a exuberant man who enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities, such as snowmobiling, camping and flying.

"Jason was loved dearly by a lot of people," said his aunt, Bonnie Landauer, also of Knox. "He had a lovely girlfriend and they were going to move to Georgia and start a life together."
