Birth

William was born in Knox on Feb. 19, 1833, a son of Henry Ketcham and Margaret Williams,[1] and a brother of Newton Ketchum who also served in the Civil War.

William married Olevia Pier (Mar 2, 1855 - Apr 30, 1945)at about 1873 and had the following known children:

Civil War Veteran Answers Final Call

William H. Ketcham. aged 90 years, responded to the final summons on Friday morning, May 12. at 4 o'clock, after as illness of several months. The funeral services will be held from the residence of his son-in-law, Madison Warner, on Lark street, Altamont. Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in KNOX cemetery.

MT. Ketcham is survived by bis wife, and three daughters. Mrs. Byron Warner. Mrs. Harry Schermerborn and Mrs. Madison Warner, and one brother. Newton Ketcham of Altamont.

Mr. Ketcham was born in 1832. and was the son of Henry and Margaret Ketcham. When a young man he began teaching school, and followed that profession for several years in the towns of Knox and Berne. Afterward he went to Iowa and was employed there until the outbreak of the Civil war. He entered the service with an Iowa regiment and served in the army, being engaged in several battles.

At the close of the war he returned to New York state and married Miss Olevia Pier. They began married life together on a farm near Thompson's Lake. Mr. Ketcham had been a member of M. H. Barclay Post. G. A. R. for over forty years.
