Birth

Douglas Arthur Jones, a lifelong resident of Berne, was born about 1939, the son of the late Howard and Lillian Jones. Howard (Buck) Jones (18 DEC 1901- 24 FEB 1992) and Lillian M. Hempstead (12 JUN 1912 - 8 NOV 2008)[1] His brothers and sisters were:

  • Edwin Jones, and Carol Lynn Coronios, of Chatham, N.Y.
  • Roy Jones, and his wife, Charlotte, of Berne
  • Ruth and Hillery Thibodeaux, of Katy, Texas
  • Marilyn Mayers, of Geneva, Ala.

BERNE — Douglas Arthur Jones, a kind and generous man, died at 4:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 8, (2012). He was 73.

Mr. Jones, a lifelong resident of Berne, is the son of the late Howard and Lillian Jones.

During his younger years, he worked for the New York State Department of Transportation, and the Albany County Highway Department.

In recent years, wrote his family in a tribute, his favorite pastimes included drinking coffee while sitting on the porch of his parents’ home on Route 143, waving to passersby; buying coffee for all of his friends at the Berne Store and the Duke Dairy Bar, in East Berne; and reliving wonderful memories of camping, fishing, and hunting trips with his parents and siblings.

Many of these memories were from Eighth Lake and Wells campgrounds in the Adirondacks, the St. Lawrence River, Canada, the Florida Keys, and the White River area of Arkansas.

Mr. Jones is survived by his brothers, Edwin Jones, and Carol Lynn Coronios, of Chatham, N.Y., and Roy Jones, and his wife, Charlotte, of Berne; his sisters, Ruth and Hillery Thibodeaux, of Katy, Texas, and Marilyn Mayers, of Geneva, Ala.; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
