John Finch was born at about 1802 at Knox, a son of Foster Finch and Naomi Merrick[1]
Marriage & Children
John married Nancy Wood who was born in 1805, a daughter of Benjamin and Sarah Wood[2] Their known children were:
- Theresa (Thirza)Finch b. at about 1833 d.March 8, 1872 buried at Lee's Church Burial Ground, Knox
- Madison Finch b. at about 1836
- Richmond Finch b. at about 1837
- Foster M. Finch b. at about 1839
- Mary Finch b. at about 1841
- Edwin Finch b. at about 1846 d. April 21, 1870 and is buried at Lee's Church Burial Ground, Knox
"In the early 1850's, Thirza Finch, her father and eight siblings moved from Knox, N.Y., to a farm in Maple Valley, Prince William County, Va." [3]
Nancy died on July 9, 1855 at Prince William County, VA age 50 years[2]
John, widowed, married secondly on January 17, 1858 in Fairfax County, VA, Mary Ann Cash who was born in 1818 in Fairfax, VA, a daughter of Elijah and Susan Cash. [4]
Death
Nancy died in 1855 in Virginia[2]. John died at the end of October, 1862[3] and while no marker exists there for him, it is very likely that he was buried at the Lee's Church Burial Ground, Knox. .
