Birth

Jehiel Lamb was born on February 8, 1756 at Amenia, Dutchess Co., NY a son of David Lamb and Elizabeth Gates

Military

Jehiel entered the service as a Corporal on April 1, 1777 at Amenia under Captain Chamberlain in Colonel Hopkin’s Regiment for three months.
He again entered in October of 1777 for one month and served as a Corporal in Captain William Barker’s Company of Colonel Sutherland’s Regiment.
Again in December of 1777 he served and marched to Peekskill, Fishkill and New Windsor.
In December of 1777 through January of 1778, he served and was discharged.
1 month as a private, 5 months as a Corporal, and 1 month as a Sergeant.

Marriage & Children

On July 1, 1779 he at Amenia, he married Huldah Fairchild who was born in Sharon, CT in 1759, a daughter of Thomas Fairchild and Rachel Sherwood. Their known children:

  • Lemuel Lamb
  • Giliad Lamb
  • Jehiel Lamb, Jr.
  • Alexander Lamb

Death

Jehiel died on August 4, 1841 in Westerlo. He was buried at the Locust Cemetery in Greenville, Greene Co., NY. [1]
