Stephen died on December 14, 1832 in Berne. He was buried in his family burial ground in Berne.  Helen died on April 3, 1855 in East Berne and was buried beside her husband.

Born

Stephen, son of John Hungerford, was born on the homestead in Berne.[1]
or
Stephen, the son of Elijah Hungerford and Sarah Rockwell was born on May 14, 1771.[2]

Occupation

He lived his entire life in Berne, and was devoted to agriculture.[1]

Marriage & Children

He married Hannah Deval[1] or Hannah (Helltze) (Helen) DeVoe on October 17, 1794 at New Salem, Albany, NY[2]
Their children:

  • Isaac Hungerford was born on November 23, 1795 and died on November 23, 1871, married Jemima Tygert[2]
  • Daniel Hungerford was born on December 1, 1797 and died on July 20, 1860, married Hannah Stalker[2]
  • Mary (Susanna) Hungerford was born on May 11, 1800 and died on October 10, 1883, married Lawrence Van Deusen[2]
  • John I. Hungerford was born on April 21, 1802 and died on March 29, 1852, married Phebe Beeman[2]
  • Charles Hungerford was born on June 12, 1806 and died on November 25, 1894, married Mary Winne [2]
  • Olive Hungerford was born at about 1808, she married Albert Slingerland[2]
  • Mary Magdaline Hungerford was born on August 5, 1810 and died on February 16, 1890, married Daniel Fisher[2]
  • Elsie Hungerford was born on July 19, 1815 and died on April 11, 1895, married John T. Flansburgh[2]
  • Mariah Hungerford was born on March 17, 1818 and died on January 25, 1888, married Adam Reamer[2]
