Birth
Helen Lucy Strevell was born in November 13, 1896, the daughter of Zebediah A. Dyer Strevell (20 JUN 1872 - 22 AUG 1942) and Grace Anne Warner (6 APR 1874 - 17 SEP 1962). Her grandmother was Lucy Ella Gallup. She was their only child.[1]

Helen Strevell was a graduate of Albany High School.
Occupation
Helen Strevell taught rural school in this area before her marriage in the early 20's to the Berne World War I veteran Chester A. Hochstrasser, DDS. While they lived in Albany Mrs. Hochstrasser was active in First Reformed Church of Albany and served as a Nurse's Aid and Red Cross production manager during World War II, After Dr. Hochstrasser's retirementin 1953, she served in his dental office here at Warner's Lake until his passing in 1957.

Helen Strevell Hochstrasser, 88, died Aug. 2, (1985).
The wife of the late Chester Hochstrasser, D.D.S., she resided at Windemere Farms, Warner's Lake, in the family home of her grandfather, Elias Warner.
Survivors include daughters Nancy Lichliter of Stephan City, Va. and Harriet Hochstrasser of Warner's Lake; grandchildren Cynthia Buck and William Lichliter, and two great-grandsons.
Contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, East Berne, N.Y. 12059.
A memorial service will be held at the family home Saturday, Aug. 10 at 11 a.m.

Memorial Service for Mrs. Chester Hochstrasser will be from the Warner's Lake home Saturday with Rev. Janice C. Jenson officiating. She died Friday (August 2, 1985) in Virginia.
Born November 13, 1896, in Albany, Helen Strevell Hochstrasser, was the daughter of the late Zeb A. and Grace Strevell. She spent her. early summers at the family farm on Warner's Lake with grandparents- Mr. and Mrs. Elias Warner. A graduate of Albany High School she taught rural school in this area before her marriage in the early 20's to the Berne World War I veteran Chester A. Hochstrasser, DDS. While they lived in Albany Mrs. Hochstrasser was active in First Reformed Church of Albany and served as a Nurse's Aid and Red Cross production manager during World War II, After Dr. Hochstrasser's retirementin 1953, she served in his dental office here at Warner's Lake until his passing in 1957.
Mrs. Hochstrasser enjoyed her family home the Windemere Farm on Warner's Lake and maintained the summer camps. She also took a round-the-world cruise and other travels. Later she spent winters in Florida with her daughter Harriet and the past two winters near her daughter Nancy in Virginia. She was a charter member of the Berne Historical Society.
Helen Hochstrasser is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Nancy) Lichliter of Winchester, Va. and Harriet Hochstrasser of Windemere Farm on Warner's Lake and Homestead, Fla.; two grandchildren, Mrs. David (Cynthia) Buck of Dahlonga, Ga. and William Lichliter of Winchester, Va.; and two great-grandchildren Joshua Buck in Georgia and Daniel Lichliter in Virginia.
Mrs. Hochstrasser continued the family tradition of enjoying the Altamont Enterprise. In February 1937 her grandfather Elias Warner wrote that he believed he was then the oldest continuous reader; he had been a continuous subscriber since The Enterprise started in 1884 with David Crow and prior to that had subscribed to the Golden Era published by Rev. J. E. Klock. After his passing his daughter Grace Strevell continued the paper and granddaughter Helen Hochstrasser was a third-generation reader until her passing last week.
