Haverly, Carl Charles
Birth
Charles (Carl being the German/Dutch word for Charles) Haverly (Hoefferlich on the 1800 census and his will), son of Christian John Hoffelich and Mary Dawley was born abt.1737 in the Palatinate in Germany according to the tradition of the family. There was much variation of spelling of his name when he was researched. His siblings were:

Occupation
He was a farmer and soldier.
Naturalization
Karl Hoffelich was naturalized March 20, 1762 (Laws of the Colony of New York) 1755-9 vol. IV/618-9.
Marriage & Children
He married Anna Maria Bassler March 9, 1768 in the Schoharie Reformed Church. She was the dau. of Frederick Bassler and his first wife Esther Tommen.

They were baptised in the Schoharie Reformed and Lutheran Churches and the Beaverdam Reformed Church at Berne.
Military Service
Charles Heflig and Jacob Heflig were listed on the Muster Roll in 1782. Carls Hefferlich and Jacob Hefferlich were entitled to 500 acres in the town of Knox as enlisted men in the 15th regular Alb. Co. Militia. The place is shown on the 1787 map as belonging to K. Haverleigh and Karl Haverleigh.
Death
Carl died October 15, 1821 at age 84 at his home in Knox and was buried in the Berne Beaverdam Cemetery. His wife is mentioned in his will but not named so it appears that she survived him.
