Birth

Jasper Haight was born on March 31, 1842[1] in Berne to Jacob Haight (B. abt 1807, D. after 1880).[2]and and Eunice Shepard[3] Jasper was a middle child of five.[2] Several years after Jasper's birth his mother died and his father remarried a woman named Emeline by whom Jacob had several half siblings.[2]

Jasper died on 4 May 1862 at Fortress Monroe[2] (aka Fort Monroe)[1] in Hampton, Va. which was a Union fort for the entire Civil War.
