Birth

Phebe was born abt. 1792/5 Williamstown, MA or Hoosick NY to Jacob Galusha (b. 1757/8 CT) and Dinah Maddison/Mattison (b. RI).

Marriage & Children

Phebe married Daniel Townsend from Rensselaerville and had three known children:

  • Elmina Serena Townsend (B. 17 April 1834) She married Cornelius Zeh of Berne
  • Chester Arthur Townsend (1839-1914) He married Elida M. Chrysler (1835-1907) Berne.
  • Daniel Townsend (B. 1840 He married Minnie Lawton of Voorheesville, NY.
    Phebe married 2nd John Simmons of Berne.

Death

Phebe died 1884 and is buried in the Berne and Beaverdam Cemetery in the plot of her son Chester.

Additional Research

Phebe's father, Jacob, came through the hilltowns abt. 1800/1810, and eventually ended up in Almond, Allegany Co. N.Y. Her sister, Lydia Galusha, married an Armstrong from Rensselaerville, and her brother David Galusha lived in Rensselaerville between 1810-20.
