Miller of the Berne Lutheran church officiated; and his sympathetic message brought comfort to sorrowing hearts.

The death of the mother when the youngest child was but a year old developed in this eldest sister a rare sense of responsibility, and in the home of the Filkins grandparents she shared with a father a tender and loyal ministry.
