Doris F. LeBuis died gracefully and peacefully with a strong spiritual presence guiding her way on Friday, August 13, 2004 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital with family by her side.

BERNE -- Friends and loved ones should be comforted by knowing that Doris F. LeBuis died gracefully and peacefully with a strong spiritual presence guiding her way on Friday, August 13, 2004 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital with family by her side. She was born January 17, 1914 to the late Fred Hazael Filkins and Nettie S. Filkins and was a lifelong resident of the Town of Berne. She worked for the New York State Department of Transportation, retiring in 1980. She was a longtime member of the First Reformed Church of Berne, the Berne Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and the Hilltown Senior Citizens, along with many other community service organizations. She was the dedicated and loving wife for 50 years of Leo N. LeBuis, who predeceased her in November of 1985. She was the friend and mother of Janice Bassler and her husband Fred (Pete) of Berne, Diane Chamberlain and her husband Merritt of Scottsdale, Ariz., Robert LeBuis and his wife Roberta of Barneveld, N.Y., Marlene Boomhower and her husband Dennis of Westerlo, Donald LeBuis and his wife Donna of Mokena, Ill., Charis Cummings and her husband Dennis of Wilton, N.Y. and Dennis LeBuis of Selkirk, N.Y. She is also survived by a brother, Clyde L. Filkins and his wife Margaret of Westerlo; 20 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one great-granddaughter. It was Doris' wish to donate her body to the Albany Medical College for medical research. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, 2004 at the First Reformed Church of Berne, Rte. 443, Berne, N.Y. Those who wish may make contributions in Doris' name to the First Reformed Church of Berne, 1664 Helderberg Trail, Berne, NY 12023.
