Birth

Ethan Wright was born on October 31, 1829, to James J. Wright (1804-1872) and his wife Esther Wright (B. 1809-1885).[1] His parents were both Wrights and related to one another. Ethan was the second born son of five children, two of which died in early childhood.[1] He had an older brother Egbert Wright and younger brother Enos J. Wright.[1]

Occupation

Ethan was a farmer. His father James J. Wright was a farmer and upon his death on March 14, 1872, Ethan and Enos took over the farm.[2]

Marriage and Children

Ethan never married and he lived with his younger brother Enos J. Wright and his family.[2][3]

Death

Ethan died on August 30, 1902 and he was buried at the Beaverdam Cemetery in Berne.[1]

After his death, the Altamont Enterprise reported that on Monday December 15th James A. Wright administrator of Ethan’s estate would sell various livestock, farm implements, machinery, blacksmith tools and household goods from his residence described as 8 miles south of the village Berne. The auctioneer was to be C. W. Schoonmaker. The sale of his estate was also listed in the Slingerlands Bulletin as follows:

A. S. Tompkins, auctioneer, will sell for the subscriber, on the Ethan Wright farm, 2 miles south of Berne, on Wednesday March 21, at 1 o’clock, sharp 2 horses, 1 colt, 4 cows, farming implements, 50 tons of hay, some household furniture, etc. Terms cash. By order of George Adams.[4]
