Pvt. Robert D. Engle

Birth

Robert Dunbar[1] Engle was born on May 22, 1821 to Henry Engle (B. April 15, 1787, D. bet 1860-1865) and Sophia Bannister (B. Sept 9, 1791, D. after June 1, 1870).[2] He was a middle child of twelve.[2]

Marriage & Children

Robert married Charity Maria Bell before 1848.[2][3] She was born Febuary 18, 1829 to John Bell and Charity Pierce.[2]

Death

Robert Dunbar Engle died on May 12, 1885[2][3] and his wife Charity died a year later in 1886[2][3]. Robert and his wife were both buried Berne and Beaverdam Cemetery, Berne, NY.[2][3] Robert's gravestone confirms his Civil War service in the 7th NY Heavy Artillery Regiment.[3] His wife's gravestone confirms her middle initial of "M" and her maiden name of Bell.[3]
