Birth

Thomas Ellis was born in about 1845 in Rensselaerville, Albany County, NY.[1]

His Life

He was orphaned before his 7th birthday and lived in Coeymans with an adoptive family in 1850. He enlisted in the army and was discharged at the close of the war, and moved to Michigan.

He then enlisted on February 7, 1870 as a private in Company H of the 14th Infantry, serving until February 6, 1875. On October 1, 1876, he re-enlisted in the same regiment until September 30, 1881 when he suffered a stroke and was discharged and lived at Sherwood, Branch Co. MI.

He never married.
