Birth

Alexander was born at about 1792[1], probably in Bethlehem, NY, a son of Robert Dunbar and Hannah Slingerland. His known siblings were:

  • Hannah Dunbar
  • Elizabeth Dunbar
  • Lany Dunbar
  • Mary Dunbar
  • John Dunbar
  • Cornelius Dunbar born June 16, 1802
  • Albert Dunbar born at about 1783

Marriage & Children

Alexander’s first wife was named Betsey, and she was born at about 1792. Their marriage probably took place at about 1812. Their known child:

  • Ellen Jane Dunbar who was born in Westerlo on October 9, 1816. She died on April 15, 1833 at Westerlo. [1]

He married secondly, Hannah Lamphier or Lamphere, who was born on August 3, 1800 in New York, a daughter of _______ Levi(?)and Elizabeth Lamphire, by about 1819. They had the following known children:

  • John Dunbar born about 1819
  • Hannah Eliza Dunbar was born at about 1821. She married William Flansburgh
  • Jared Dunbar
  • Nancy Maria Dunbar was born in 1825. She married Matthew Flansburgh
  • William Dunbar
  • Levi Dunbar was born at about 1829, he died in Madison County, NY at about 1859
  • Reuben Dunbar was born at about 1830. His wife was named Betsey.


Death

His first wife, Betsey died circa 1819. Alexander died on July 13, 1833 at Westerlo. His burial took place at the Wickham Farm Burial Ground at Dormansville, Albany County. [1] His second wife, Hannah, remarried to David Lester and died on January 20, 1883 at Clifton Park, Saratoga Co., NY. Her burial was at the Clifton Park Baptist Cemetery.
