Birth

David, a son of Adam A. Dietz and Lena Zeh, was born on October 16, 1802 in Berne, NY[1]

Marriage & Children

He married Martha Wright[2] who was born in 1805[3] in Albany County[4], at about 1825 at or near Berne and had the following known children:

  • Margaret DIETZ was born on 15 Jun 1827. She died on 8 Apr 1906. She married Alexander Hemstead.
  • Christian J. DIETZ was born on June 18, 1830 in Berne. Christian married Augusta about 1858 in Delaware County, NY. Augusta was born about 1835 in Delaware County, NY. Christian died in Delaware Co., NY on January 17, 1883 and is buried at Partridge Island Cemetery, Hancock, Delaware Co., NY.
  • Mary Dietz was born at about 1833 in or near Berne. She married Andrew Hannay, a son of John Hannay and Charity LaPaugh
  • Phebe Dietz was born at about 1835 in Berne. She married George Hannay, a son of John Hannay and Charity LaPaugh
  • Eli DIETZ was born about 1837 in Berne. He enlisted in the army, got deathly ill, was discharged for that

illness,and died on May 18, 1862 in Stillwater, Saratoga Co., NY. He was buried in the Baptist Church Cemetery, Stillwater, Saratoga Co., NY.

  • Samuel DIETZ was born in Apr of 1841 in Berne. Samuel married Emily at about 1867 in NY. Emily was born in Jun of 1843 in NY. Samuel died on January 12, 1915 and was buried at the Elmwood Cemetery, Bethlehem, Albany Co., NY
  • Lucretia DIETZ was born about 1842 in Berne. She was living with her brother, Christian, in 1860 but nothing further has been learned about her.

Death

David died sometime between the years 1842 and 1849. His place of burial has not been learned. Martha died in 1888 at the home of her daughter, Margaret Hemstead, in Fremont, Sullivan Co., NY and was buried in the Hemstead family plot at the Riverside Cemetery, Freemont, Sullivan Co., NY.
