Merlin L. "Red" Dexter KNOX — Merlin L. "Red" Dexter, 80, died on Monday, April 18,2005, at home.

Born in Knox, he was the son of the late Luther and Minnie Dexter. Mr. Dexter served his country in the United States Marine Corp during World War II.

After the war, he went on to work for General Electric in Schenectady, as a foundry worker for 38 years, until his retirement in 1982. Mr. Dexter is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Ilene (VanValkenburgh) Dexter, of Colonie; his brother, Richard Dexter, of Knox; and his three sisters, Mildred Hoffman, of Guilderland, Nancy Dexter, of Knox, and Barbara Dexter, of Troy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 22, at 11 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner, Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
