Stanton L. Deitz, aged 92, died suddenly Monday night at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Prof. D.W. Ingraham and Mrs. Ingraham, Athens, Ohio.  Son of the late [[Charles E. Deitz| Charles E.]] and [[Laura Jane Ludden| Laura Ludden Deitz]], he was born Nov. 3, 1867.  Years ago he operated a store in Berne with his father.  He was an accountant for the Borden Co. in Albany until his retirement in 1948, when he moved to Schenectady.  He spent the last two years at the home of his daughter in Athens, where he died.  A former council member of the First Lutheran church in Albany, he was one of its oldest living members.  He was the husband of the late Isabel Haverly and father of the late Dorothea and Fordyce.  He is also survived by two grandchildren, Richard Ingraham of Cowansville, Quebec, Canada, and Mrs. Robert Jensen of Alliance, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. John Hoick, of Los Angeles, Calif., and a brother, Rev. Archibald Deitz of Jersey City, N.J.  Funeral services were held Thursday morning from the Philip J. Frederick Funeral Home, Albany, officiated.  Interment was in [[b:Woodlawn Cemetery|Woodlawn Cemetery]], Berne.

Stanton Deitz, 1895

Birth

Stanton L. Deitz was born November 3, 1867, to Charles E. Deitz and Laura Jane Ludden.

Education

Occupation

Stanton was in business with his father, Charles, between 1901 and 1917 (at least).

Marriage & Children

In June of 1895, Stanton married Ida Isabel Haverly at Midfields, the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob S. Haverly. Stanton’s brother, Reverend Archibald E. Deitz assisted with the ceremony, his sister Grace was the maid of honor, and his sister Leona was a bridesmaid.

Children:

  • Fordyce Charles Deitz (b. January 23, 1897; d. October 1, 1937)
  • Katherine L. Deitz
  • Dorothea Deitz (d. 1958)

Stanton suffered the loss of his forty-year-old son Fordyce Charles Deitz in 1937, and the loss of his daughter, Dorothea Deitz, in 1958.

Death

Stanton died on May 9, 1960, in Athens, Ohio, and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery.
