Nellie Truax Dies at 92

Funeral services for a longtime resident of Township, Mrs. Nellie Truax, 92, were held Monday morning from the Frendendall Funeral Home and St. Lucy's Church, Altamont.

Mrs. Truax was born Dec. 2, 1887 in Essex County, England. The family came to the U.S. in May 1888 and moved to Buffalo, N.Y. then to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. In 1912 she became the wife of Arthur N. Dougall. The couple moved to a farm on Chadwick Road in 1922. Mr. Dougall died in 1933 leaving his wife and three children, Helen, David and the late Francis Dougall.

In 1935 Mrs. Dougall married Robert Truax and the couple purchased the Township Hotel which they sold in 1948, then moved to the present address on Township Road where Mrs. Truax has lived with her daughter Helen, since the death of her husband in 1962. Mrs. Truax was an active and devoted member of St. Lucy's Church and is survived by three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
