Birth

Elijah was born on January 8, 1795 in Knox, Albany Co., NY, a son of Elijah Chesebro and Thankful Williams.

Military

Elijah served as a Lieutenant in the 74th New York Regiment in the War of 1812

Marriage & Children

He married in 1816, Susan Chapman who was born on July 3, 1792 at Stonington, New London Co., CT, a daughter of James or Jonas Chapman and Suzanna Peabody. They had the following known children:

  • Angelina Chesebro born March 24, 1817, married John Carhart and removed to Iowa
  • Edward Willard Chesebro born August 11, 1819
  • Allen Denison Chesebro born April 18, 1822
  • George James Stevenson Chesebro born October 5, 1829, he married Isabella McBain and removed to Grand Rapids, Kent Co., MI. He died in the Civil War


Death

Susan died on February 4, 1856 in Guilderland and Elijah died on October 26, 1860 at Grand Rapids, Kent Co., MI. Their burials took place at the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland.
