PHILIP P. BUFFA SR.

EAST BERNE - Philip P. Buffa Sr., 59, of Adams Road, an East Berne resident since 1985, died May 7 at St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady after a brief illness.

Mr. Buffa was born in Brooklyn and served in the Army during the Korean War, He worked as a meat cutter for the Food. Fair stores oh Long Island for many years before moving to East Berne.

At the time of his death, he was employed by the Albany Pork Store in Schenectady. During 1985, he worked as a custodian in the Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School. A member of the Knights of Columbus in Brentwood, Suffolk County, Mr. Buffa was a member of the Lady of Fatima General Assembly and a fourth degree knight of the Bishop's Color Guard.

He was also a member of both the Knox Volunteer Fire Department and the Amalgamated Meat Cutters Union and a former Republican committeeman in the Town of Islip (Suffolk Co.).

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Buffa; one son, Philip P. Buffa Jr. of Washington, DC; one daughter, Margie A, Saddlemire of Knox; one sister, Mary Micca of Oceanside (Nassau Co.); and two grandchildren.

Services were Wednesday, May 10, in St. Lucy's Roman Catholic' Church, Grand Street, Altamont, and burial will be in [[k:Knox Cemetery|Knox Cemetery]], Knox.

Arrangements, were by Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont. ^ Contributions may be made to St. Lucy's Food Pantry, Altamont.
