Birth

James was born on January 8, 1840 in the town of Berne, the son of Henry Brunk and Rebecca Fowler.[1]

Education

He attended the common district schools.[1]

Occupation

He was a farmer and has spent his life on the homestead farm. After the death of his father, he hired the farm from his mother and the other heirs and in 1868, purchased it and has added to it since then twenty-seven acres. He has devoted his attention to a general farming and the breeding of fine grade cattle.[1]

Marriage and Children

On March 4, 1865, he married Louisa E. Hungerford of Berne [1]a daughter of Alfred Hungerford and Harriet Winne. Their children are:

  • Willie J. Brunk[1]
  • Frank T. Brunk[1]
  • Hattie Brunk who died when nineteen. [1]
  • Lena Brunk[1]]Lena married Ira Secor.
  • Alfred Brunk[1]
  • Leroy Brunk[1]

Death

Louisa died in 1913. James died in 1914.
