Birth

Helen Brownell was born in Albany N.Y. on Oct. 9, 1916 to Willard Clayton Brownell and Hazel Long

Education

Helen was educated in the Albany school system and graduated from Albany High School

Occupation

Helen was a homemaker and also worked with her husband DeForest Osterhout at Osterhout's "Indian Ladder Lodge" until his death in 1956, the lodge was sold in 1957. Helen worked for the Voorheesville school system for a short time until she got a job with NYS as a clerk and worked there until her retirement.

Marriage & Children

Helen Brownell married DeForest Osterhout in 1939 and marriage produced two children, Willard born Feb. 9, 1940 and John born Sept. 20, 1944

Death

Helen died at the home of her son Willard at Warner's Lake on Nov. 29, 1978 and is buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in New Salem
