Birth

Jacob was born on August 10, 1771, a son of William Brate and Arianntje Moak[1]

Marriage & Children

On February 20, 1798 he married Elizabeth Moak who was born on May 21, 1777 in New Salem, a daughter of Hendrick Moak and Elizabeth Heller[1]. Their children:

  • Harriet Brate born August 16, 1798, married John Houghtaling[1]
  • Elizabeth Brate born October 24, 1799, married Abraham Dobbs[1]
  • Mary Brate born August 6, 1802[1]
  • Henry Brate born September 20, 1803, married Eliza M. Smith[1]
  • William N. Brate born May 6, 1810, married Angeline Smith[1]
  • Fanny Brate born March 27, 1812
  • Margaret Brate born May 24, 1817, married George A. Smith[1]

Death

Jacob died in 1832 in Westerlo. Elizabeth died on April 19, 1853. Both were buried in the Brate Farm Burial Ground in Westerlo.[1]
