Birth

George A. Brate was born in about 1844 to Henry Brate (B. Sept 20, 1803, D. June 11, 1887) and Eliza M. Smith (B. abt 1807, D. after 1880).[1] He was the youngest son of ten children and a brother to Delinton Brate who also served in the Civil War.

Marriage & Children

George married between 1870 and 1875 and was widowed in 1875. His wife, whose name is unknown, gave birth to a daughter Minnie E. Brate in about 1875.[1]

Then after 1880, George married Angelica Smith who was born in 1836 in Berne and was the daughter of Asa Smith and Eva Warner].[1] Angelica was the widow of Martin Brate Jr. (B. abt 1818, D. after 1880).[1]

Death

George's wife Angelica died first on November 3, 1898.[1] George A. Brate lived for many more years dying in 1933 in Coeymans, Albany County, NY.[1] George died on March 13, 1933 at Coeymans Hollow, NY.[4]
