Birth

John I. Bogardus was born on June 7, 1805, a son of John Bogardus and Catharine Bunt[1]

Marriage & Children

He married on April 22, 1828 at Berne, NY, Mary E. Shultes who was born on March 22, 1809, a daughter of Adam Shultes and Maria Elizabeth Hochstrasser. [1] They had the following children:

  • Adam M. Bogardus, born March 5, 1831[1]
  • Emeline Bogardus, born at about 1833[1]
  • Anna Maria Bogardus, born in 1836[1]
  • Charles B. Bogardus, born May 6, 1839[1], killed in action during the Civil War
  • Mary Elizabeth Bogardus, born May 1, 1842[1]
  • William H. Bogardus, born June 30, 1845, died in the Civil War
  • Sarah E. Bogardus, born June 15, 1848[1]

Death

John died on June 8, 1880, Mary died on May 27, 1895
