Birth

Omer J. Becker was born in Switzkill August 25, 1887, on the farm on which he was a life-long resident. the son of Lewis Henry Becker and Sarah E. Barton and live up on West Mountain, now known as Becker Pond

Education

Omer attended Bell School until about the 7th grade.

Occupation

In his younger years, Omer picked apples and worked on a hops farm picking hops in Middleburgh when done with the work for the day stayed and squared danced for the evening. He later bought a farm on Switzkill Rd in nearby Berne and became a farmer. He was a successful farmer and man of congenial character, always ready to assist anyone in trouble.

Marriage & Children

Omer married Ada Catherine Shultes, a daughter of Peter Byron Shultes and Margaret Catherine Campbell on November 28, 1917, in the Reformed Church in Berne.

Omer J. Becker died at his home Wednesday morning, Jan. 5, (1966) Although in failing health for some time, he died suddenly. Omer Becker was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery.

BECKER — Jan. 5, at Berne, Omer J. Becker, aged 78, husband of Ada Shultes; father of Mrs. Hubert (Frances) Miller, Mrs. Randall (Norma) Schanz, Mrs. Willard (Mavis) Schanz, and Maver O. and Marvin E. Becker; also survived by 24 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday from St. Paul's Lutheran church, Berne.

OMER J. BECKER

Omer J. Becker died at his home Wednesday morning, Jan. 5, (1966) Although in failing health for some time, he died suddenly.

Mr. Becker was born in Switzkill Aug. 25, 1887, on the farm on which he was a life-long resident. He was a successful farmer and man of congenial character, always ready to assist anyone in trouble. He will be greaty missed in the community. At an early age he affiliated with St. Paul's Lutheran church in Berne, of which he had been a regular attendant and loyal members.

Survivors include his widow, Ada Shultes Becker; three daughters, Mrs. Hubert (Frances) Miller, Mrs. Randall (Norma) Schanz, Mrs. Willard (Mavis) Schanz; two sons, Maver O. and Marvin E.; 24 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services were held from St. Paul's Lutheran church last Saturday afternoon in charge of Brunk Funeral Home. Rev. James D. Keller officiated. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
