Sympathy

Our heartfelt sympathy goes this week to "Bernie" Bernhardt and their children and the many cousins and friends of his dear, little wife, Marge, who died in the Ocala Hospital on May 22. Marge was originally from Altamont, daughter of Minton Becker who ran a harness and shoe repair shop in the building on Maple Avenue, which is now part of the Enterprise offices. Later, she and Bernie lived in Scotia, on the corner of Fifth Street and Sacandaga Road, where I waited for the bus to Schenectady. Bernie worked at General Electric and, during the war years, he probably took the bus to work.

BUMC

More recently, I have come to know them through the Belleview United Methodist Church in Florida.

We wonder how Bernie will manage in Florida without his Marge. He is in a lovely nursing home. The assisted living facility called Chambrell, where they lived for some time is one of the very best. They were happy and comfortable there and well cared for.

BUMC has a friendly, caring congregation and I am sure they will keep track of Bernie. There are four retired ministers who help and it works well.
