Birth

Elma Becker was born December 2, 1895, the daughter of Lewis Henry Becker (3 MAR 1854 - 24 NOV 1920) and Mary Elizabeth (Libbie) Wood (14 OCT 1860 - 7 FEB 1955). Elma's sisters were:

  • Alice Julia Becker (13 MAR 1891 - 7 MAR 1954)
  • Anna Laura Becker (27 JUN 1893 - 20 APR 1958)

Lewis also married Sarah E. Barton (1854 - 12 NOV 1888). Their children were:

  • Myrtle Becker (5 JAN 1877 - 4 APR 1898)
  • Iva Becker (25 JUN 1879 - 19 DEC 1959)
  • Roy Peter Becker (16 JUL 1883 - 18 APR 1884)

Mrs. Elma Becker Chesebro died Friday, Feb. 14, at the home of her brother, Omer J. Becker.

Born Dec. 2, 1895, the daughter of the late Lewis Becker and ELizabeth Wood, she spent greater part of her life in Berne. In 1940 she married Morris Chesebro and lived in Albany until the recent death of her husband. She and Mrs. Chesebro wre both former members of St. Paul's Lutheran church in Berne until they moved to Albany when they affiliated witht he First Reformed church of Albany.

Survivors include tow sisters, Mrs. Avery Jansen of Berne and Mrs. Iva FIlkins; one brother, Omer J. Becker; two step-sons, Jack Chesebro of Virginia and Maxwell Chesebro of Albany, and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were held from the Brunk Funeral Home on Tuesday weith Rev. Russell Greene officiating. Interment was in Memorial Gardens in Albany.
