Birth

Warner was born in New Haven, Connecticut in September of 1764. By the time he was 9 years old, his family had moved to Waterbury, CT where he grew up and later entered the service.

Military

Warner enlisted as a private in March of 1781 in Colchester, CT under Captain Ransom in Col. Hazlet’s regiment. He was discharged in January of 1782.

Marriage & Children

On September 20, 1802, he married at Rensselaerville, Elizabeth “Betsy” Purrington who was born at about 1780 and lived in Rensselaerville. Their known children were:

  • Lucius Barnes
  • Milo Barnes
  • Lucy Barnes, wife of Amasa Mackey
  • Polly Barnes, wife of Cornelius Burhans
  • Nancy Barnes, wife of Matthias Hallenbeck
  • Elizabeth Barnes
  • Harriet Barnes
  • Zaphrone? Barnes, living in Kalamazoo, MI in 1839

Death

Warner died on February 11, 1837 at Rensselaerville. Elizabeth died on June 2, 1861 she was buried at the Scutt Cemetery in Preston Hollow. It is assumed that is also where her husband was buried, but no marker exists there for him.
