Jennie B. Rapp KNOX — Jennie B. Rapp, was an outdoorswoman who took care of her neighbors. She died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at Albany Memorial Hospital. She was 78.

"Jennie was an outdoors person," said her sister Madeline Bradt. She hunted, fished, and drove a snowmobile, said Miss Bradt. She learned these skills from their father.

Mrs. Rapp received medals in statewide fly-casting and badminton competitions, said Miss Bradt.

"She used to go truck camping," her sister said. "One year she went cross-country."

She was born in Knox on Aug. 7,1924, the daughter of the late Charles and Pearl Bradt. She graduated from Berne-Knox High School in 1943 and attended the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. Mrs. Rapp worked as a clerk for the federal government for many years. After her husband, Arthur H. Rapp, died in 1979, she began spending winters in Florida, said Miss Bradt.

"When she was able to, she helped some of her older neighbors by taking them to the doctor's," said her sister. When Mrs. Rapp became ill with cancer, her neighbors returned the favor, said Miss Bradt.

After being diagnosed, Mrs. Rapp set two goals. One was to see her younger granddaughter, Sarah Tiffany, profess her faith. The other was to see her elder grandaughter, Amanda Tiffany graduate, said Miss Bradt.

She accomplished both.

Mrs. Rapp is survived by a daughter, Marlene J. Tiffany of Knox; two sisters, Margaret Gilbert of Voorheesville and Madeline Bradt of Knox; and two granddaughters, Amanda and Sarah Tiffany of Knox. Arrangements were handled by Fredendall Funeral Home in Altamont. A memorial service was held Sunday at the Knox Reformed Church. Burial was in the Knox Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Caregivers, Post Office Box 599, Altamont, N.Y. 12009. — ByW.M.L.
