Birth

William was born in Knox on November 27, 1867, the son of James Armstrong (1811-1884) and Catherine Williams (1829-1909)

William married in Knox, NY on May 20, 1889, Jennie May Clickman (May Clikeman, Mary Clykeman)(10/21/1869-@1904) and they had the following children:

  • Delbert Armstrong (2/22/1893-@1918)

William Armstrong married second, Sarah Lighthart (JUL 1874 - ) daughter Frank Lighthart and Ellen. Their child was:

  • Lewis Lighthardt Armstrong (1913 – 1988)

Death

William died on July 8, 1947.

KNOX—Helen K. Armstrong died Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center in Schenectady. Mrs. Armstrong was born in Schenectady on June 6,1913 to the late William Patrick and Margaret Mary Holohan Keith. She graduated from Nott Terrace High School in 1931 and was employed as a secretary at Knolls Atomic Research Laboratory in Niskayuna for many years. She was a long-time member of the Altamont Senior Citizens. Mrs. Armstrong married her husband, the late Lewis Lighthart Armstrong, in 1941.

Her brother, George Keith, of Rotterdam, died before her. Mrs. Armstrongis survived by her son, Keith Armstrong, of Altamont; her daughter, Cynthia Corbett, of Dover, Pa.; her sister, Kathryn Root, of Miami, Fla.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, May 4, at 7 p.m. at St. Lucy's Church, on Grand Street, in Altamont.

LEWIS L. ARMSTRONG

Lewis L. Armstrong, 74, of Witter Road, town of Knox, died Wednesday in St. Clare's Hospital, Schenectady. Born in Rotterdam, he lived in the Knox area for more than 30 years. He was a self-employed lumber and sawmill operator on Witter Road for many years. Survivors include his wife, Helen Keith Armstrong, a son Keith Armstrong of Altamont; a daughter, Cynthia Corbett of York, Pa.; six grandchildren and a greatgrandchild.

Arrangements will be by Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont. Services will be private.
