Andrew W. Armstrong was born March 9, 1808, in Knox, the eldest son of John Armstrong (2/13/1784 - 3/14/1879) and Tahpenes Williams (10/3/1788 - 4/30/1859).

Andrew married Ruth Benjamin (1809 - 3/11/1865). After her death, Andrew married again on November 28, 1865, to Charlotte Harecourt. Charlotte was born ca 1832, the daughter of Rev. William Harecourt and his wife, Sarah.
