Birth

Andrew Smith was born near Meadowdale on the farm now known as the Peter G. Ten Eyck place. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith. His sibling were:

  • Ira of Unionville
  • Mrs. Margaret Crounse of Mechanicville.

Death

Some time ago Andrew Smith underwent two operations at the Albany City hospital and after returning to his home he seemed to be improving; but a stroke which he suffered a few weeks ago terminated in his passing on Thursday, July 2nd, (1931) at his home in this village.

Andrew Smith Dies At The Age Of 77 Years

The death of Andrew Smith, aged 77 years, removes another one of Voorheesville's residents. Mr. Smith had been in poor health for several months. Some time ago he underwent two operations at the Albany City hospital and after returning to his home he seemed to be improving; but a stroke which he suffered a few weeks ago terminated in his passing on Thursday, July 2nd, (1931) at his home in this village.

Mr. Smith had always resided in this vicinity. He was born near Meadowdale on the farm now known as the Peter G. Ten Eyck place. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith. After selling the farm he came with his family to Voorheesville to live, soon after his wife died.

Funeral services were conducted privately from his late home on Sunday afternoon. Rev. Dayton L. Jones, pastor of the M. E. church, officiated.

Surviving are one son, Sidney Smith of Meadowdale; four daughters, Mrs. Richard Rockwell, Mrs. Jesse Lasher and Mrs. James Warner; Voorheesville, and Mrs. Everett Stevens, of Schenectady; three grandchildren, also three brothers and one sister, Geo. B. and William of Voorheesville, Ira of Unionville, and Mrs. Margaret Crounse of Mechanicville.

Crounse of Mechanicville. Burial was in Mount Pleasant cemetery, New Salem. Frank T. Brunk had charge of. funeral arrangements.
