Pension claim for Sarah Torrey:
1st. The Certificate of the Comptroller of Connecticut shows that Amos Torrey credited with service in 1775 was from the Town of Stafford, the same place in which Mrs. Torrey's husband resided and where he was married.
2nd. Capt. Silas Blodgett under whom Torrey served in 1775 was also from the Town of Stafford and was the father of Mrs. Torrey. The Testimony of the witnesses show this.
3rd. The testimony of both witnesses to what they know and of one of them as to what she had heard her brother say of Torrey's services should have ??? weight.
I have no doubt that Amos Torrey performed more services than ???? evidence can be found

I Mary Orcutt of the town of Stafford in the County of Tolland and State of Connecticut of the age of eighty eight years in January next having been sworn and duly cautioned to speak the truth depose and say that I am the widow of Stephen Orcutt formerly of said Stafford now deceased. I draw a pension of Forty Dollars a year . My husband was in the Revolutionary war he was out about twenty months at different times. I knew Amos Torry well he used to live about half a mile west of West Stafford meeting house he married for his Wife Sarah Blodgett. I always supposed Amos Torry was out in the service of the Revolutionary War he had the reputation of being in the service among his neighbors I heard my husband speak of him frequently as being in the service. I have also heard my Brother Nathan Washburn speak of Mr. Amos Torry frequently as being in the Revolutionary War. They referred to the Amos Torrey for there never was any other person of that name in Stafford I think I should have known it the small pox broke out in the army My Brother Nathan was inoculated + so was Amos Torry They had the ????.I used to see Amos Torry to meeting on Sunday - he was rather a tall straight man he was a man grown. Amos Torry had a Brother in the army by the name of James Torry he died in the army and ??? Saith not.

Silas and Abigail resided in Stafford until after the revolution, but by the census of 1790 they had moved to Tolland, Conn. In 1793 they moved to Schoharie County, NY. and by 1800 resided in Providence, Saratoga County, NY. By 1818 they were living in Hadley, NY. They may have moved there to help their son Aaron (who had just lost his wife) raise his seven children. While living in Hadley, Silas applied for his Revolutionary War pension. Silas wife Abigail died sometime after the 1820 census. Silas then moved to Knox, Albany County, NY to live with his eldest daughter, Sarah and her husband Amos Torrey. He died there at the age of 92 and is buried in the Torrey plot in Knox Rural Cemetery, DAR Marker.
