He served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam vetran. He worked as a self-employed contractor for many years. He was a loving grandfather and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Pamela Rowe Weis; two sons, Michael A. Weis and his wife, Tina, of Schenectady and Joseph R. Weis and his wife, Lisa, of Berne; one daughter, Suzie S. Weis of Sherman Oaks, California; one brother, Gerard Weis, of Massachusetts; five grandchildren, Michael Jr., Matthew and Nathan Weis, Joseph Cole, and Casey Weis. A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the McKownville United Methodist Church in Guilderland. Arrangements are by Fredendall Funeral Home of Altamont.
