Weisgarver, Ezra
Birth
Ezra Weisgarver was born in Berne, Albany County, NY in about 1842.[1] Actual date: August 13, 1837. He was christened at the Reformed Dutch Church at Beaverdam on October 14, 1837. His surname was often misspelled and one of the spellings used was Weisgarber.[1] He was the son of Jacob Weisgarver (B. Sept 23, 1787, D. bef 1850) and Maria Ecker (B. Oct 16, 1794, D. unk), and was the youngest of ten children.[2]

Ezra married Amelia____ who was born at about 1839 at about 1859 or 1860. They had a son:
- George Weisgarver born in 1860 at Westerlo.
Before 1880 Ezra married Hanah Elizabeth Jones (B. abt 1850, D. unk), who was much younger than he.[2][3]
Occupation
Before he served in the Civil War, Ezra worked as a blacksmith.[1]. In the 1870 and 1900 censuses he was a blacksmith in Westerlo.

Life
Ezra began to have problems with his health in the late 1880s and applied for pension on 18 Oct 1887.[3] He suffered from neuralgia.[6]
Death
Ezra Weisgarver died on April 21, 1909.[2] He is buried in Westerlo Rural Cemetery. On May 13, 1909, his widow applied for his Civil War pension.[3]
