Philip Floyd Gibbs born on November 16, 1925 in Knox, N.Y., the son of Albert I. Gibbs and Elizabeth Hiltsley, of Knox. His siblings were:

Education
Floyd Gibbs earned a theology degree from Nyack Missionary College in Nyack, NY, and he furthered his theological studies at Gordon College in Wenham, MA.
Occupation
Rev.Gibbs and his wife, Betty, spent 30 years as missionaries in the Philippine Islands, serving in Jolo, Sulu, Zamboanga City, and Manila. Floyd also served as business manager for both the Christian and Missionary Alliance in the Philippines and Ebenezer Bible College in Mindanao. In addition, he and his wife operated the Guest Home for Missionaries in Zamboanga City and in Manila, The Philippines.
After their service in the Philippines, he and his wife returned to Knox to care for his parents. While living in upstate New York, Floyd served as an assistant pastor and interim pastor in several churches in the area, including Pineview Community Church, Westerlo Baptist Church, and South Westerlo Congregational Church. He also helped establish the Altamont Alliance Church, serving as head pastor. He and Betty retired to Bradenton Missionary Village in 1995, residing there for 10 years.

Biography
Rev. Philip Floyd Gibbs passed into the presence of His Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, at The Oaks of Sweeten Creek Nursing Home in Arden, NC, following a long illness with Parkinson's disease.
P. Floyd Gibbs was the son of Albert and Elizabeth Gibbs of Knox, NY. He earned a theology degree from Nyack Missionary College in Nyack, NY, and he furthered his theological studies at Gordon College in Wenham, MA. He and his wife, Betty, spent 30 years as missionaries in the Philippine Islands, serving in Jolo, Sulu, Zamboanga City, and Manila. Floyd Gibbs is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Stebbins Gibbs; their three children Esther Gibbs Brisson of Canton, GA, Philip Gibbs of Ballston Lake, NY, Irving Gibbs of Mills River, NC, and their spouses; and their nine grandchildren: Renee, Michael, Stephen, Isaiah, Alissa, Sammy, Josiah, Levi, and April. One grandson, Joshua, died in 1989 at the age of 3 ½ . Floyd also had three siblings who predeceased him, Donald, Alan, and Mary; he has one surviving sister, Alberta Gibbs Dubisz, who lives with her husband in Sebring, Florida, and one sister-in-law, Ruth Gibbs of Charlotte, NC, widow of Floyd's late brother, Alan.
Calling hours will be held at Fredendall Funeral Home in Altamont, NY, on Friday, Oct. 21, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Fredendall Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct 22, at 10:30 AM, with internment immediately following at Knox Cemetery, Knox NY.

WELCOME TO HELDERBERGS Welcome to Mr. and Mrs. Irving Gibbs (cousins I met in Knox). Irving and Margaret met as students at Houghton College and were wed at Friendship (Allegany Co.) on December 29,1984; Irving is a Power Engineer with the G.E. and. the young couple moved from Ohio to Boston to Knox Cave Road. Irving is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gibbs.

ALTAMONT — A retirement reception for Rev. Floyd Gibbs and his wife, Betty, will be held . from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at the Christian. and Missionary Alliance Church on Gun Club Road.
Rev. Gibbs was an associate "and interim pastor at Pineview Community Church in Albany, an associate pastor at Carman1 Road Alliance Church twice interim pastor at Westerlo Baptist Church and founder of the Altamont CMA Church.
Rev. Gibbs opens Alliance Church ALTAMONT - Pastor Floyd Gibbs, former interim pastor at First Baptist Church of Westerlo, has opened a Christian and Missionary Alliance Church at the American Legion Hall on Altamont Blvd. Services opened Sept. 18 with 30 at church and 24 attending Sunday school. Gibbs served as a C&MA missionary to the Philippines for 30 years, returning to Knox in 1982 to take care of his elderly parents. He has also served as associate and interim pastor Of Pineview Community Church and as a pulpit supply minister.
Gibbs was invited to his new post by Pastor Thomas Peck of the Carman Road Alliance Church of Schenectady, who established the Altamont church.

Rev. Floyd Gibbs, who has served as interim pastor at the Baptist church for the past nine months, has terminated his commitment there as of last Sunday. A farewell reception for him and Mrs. Gibbs was held at the close of the Sunday evening service. Rev. Gibbs will serve as pastor of the newly formed Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Altamont. Mrs. Edwin (Alberta) Dubisz, sister of Rev, Gibbs, and a missionary in Burkina Faso, is home on furlough at the Albert Gibbs family home in Knox.

Miss Susan Ann Stowe, daughter of Mrs. Nancy J. Stowe, of 2623 Herr Street, Harrisburg, Pa. and Mrs. James A. Stowe, Green St., Harrisburg. Pa. and Philip George Gibbs, Nyack, N. Y., son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gibbs of the Philippine Island, were united in marriage July 19 (1975) at the Harrisburg Christian and Missionary Alliance church. Rev. Vernon D. Evans and Rev. Floyd Gibbs, father of the groom, officiated.
The bride was attended by her sister, Chris Stowe, as maid of honor; Marilyn Betts of Corning, N. Y.; Marcia Foster of Sparta, N. J.; a cousin, Carolyn Stowe of Ambler, Pa.; Jackie Harr of Harrisburg, Pa. Laurie Grenz, a cousin of the bridet, of Carry. Pa. was flower girl.
Best man was Steve McMasters of Nyack, N. Y.,. and ushers were Evan Evans of Nyack; Mark Brisson, brother-in-law of the groom, of Albany; Paul Hanson of Hershey, Pa., and Irving Gibbs, brother of the groom, of Manila, Philippines. Ring bearer was Steve Grenz, cousin of bride, from Corry, Pa. The reception was held at the home of Rev, and Mrs. William S. Corby.
The bride attended Central Dauphin East High school in Harrisburg, Pa., and Nyack College, N. Y. The bridegroom attended Faith Academy Manila, Philippines, and Nyack College. Mr. Gibbs is employed as physical education direcctor at Summit School for Emotionally Disturbed Children in Nyack.
After a wedding trip the couple will reside at Nyack College in Nyack.
