SCHENECTADY -- Joseph L. Haluska, 82, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. He was born in East Berne, the son of the late Ludvik and Emilia Haluska. He served as an Army X-ray technician during World War II in Europe. He worked 40 years at VanCurler Motors and 13 years as an auto bodyman at Metro Ford. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Diana M. Haluska. He is also survived by a son, Chris Lane and his wife Cindy and his two grandchildren, Amanda and Melissa of Scotia; a daughter, Marine Haluska and granddaughter, Wendy Freer; two step-children, Linda Robinson and her husband Charles and Gary Westervelt and his wife Lorraine, both of Schenectady; two sisters, Wilma Gironav of Nassau, N.Y. and Irene Ivanburg of East Berne, N.Y. He is also survived by grandchildren, Thomas Westervelt, Danielle Soriel, Rae Marie Juers, Jeremy Westervelt and Jessica Westervelt; great-grandchildren, Cortney Westervelt, Andrea Westervelt, Billy Sorel, Thomas Westervelt, Ashlee LaBlanc and Shawn LaBlanc, all of Schenectady; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, William Haluska. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Light's Funeral Home, 1428 State Street, Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also call on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home for calling hours. Interment will be in Memory's Garden Cemetery. If desired, contributions may be made to Haven Grief Counseling Center, 703 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12305.

LOUDONVILLE -- Catherine E. Haluska, 84, of Loudonville, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000 at Albany Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born and raised in Albany and had been a Loudonville resident for many years. Mrs. Haluska had worked as an office clerk for the former Tobin Packing Company. She was a former member of First Lutheran Church and its choir. She was an active member of the church council at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Loudonville and had coordinated many bake sales at the church. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph J. Haluska in December of last year. She was the beloved mother of Marcia Bahan and her husband, Robert of Loudonville and Lynne Salerno and her husband, Joseph of Albany; sister of the late Henry Hammann and Rev. William Hammann; beloved grandmother of Lori and Joseph Bahan. Funeral service Friday morning at 9:15 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.), thence to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Loudonville at 10:00 a.m. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie. At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to Good Lutheran Church, 2 Shaker El, Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of Mrs. Haluska.
