Alexander was born in Guilderland at about 1804, a son of John Crounse and Elizabeth Livingston. His siblings were:

Alexander married at about 1829, probably In Guilderland, Mary (her name given as Margaret by Cuyler Reynolds in his biographical sketch in his book Hudson & Mohawk Families) Crounse who was born at about 1804. Their known children were:

Death
Alexander died after 1880 and before October 23, 1885 in Knox. His wife was not mentioned in his will but she was still living in 1880 and the will was written in 1872.
