Harold F. Deitz died Monday, June 24, in the Hospice of St Peter's Hospital. He had been a hospital patient the past four weeks. Funeral plans are under the direction of the Fredendall Funeral Home with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Barn in Berne Feb. 18, 1910; Harold Deitz was the son of the late Fred N. and Dora.Haverly Deitz. He worked as an electrician and plumber in the Berne-Knox area. On Nov. lOi 1934 he married Edythe Vining and in 1955 they moved' to Highland (Ulster Co.). In 1971 he retired from his work at Lake Mohonk, and when she retired in 1973 they moved to retirement homes in Silver Springs, Fla. and Knox. Harold Deitz was a member of the First Reformed Church of Berne, the Berne Historical Society, and Hilltowns Senior Citizens. He had been a charter member of the Berne Fire Co. and a member of the Berne Tent 770 KOTM. Surviving are his wife, Edythe V. Deitz; a daughter, Gail Wurzler of Wyalusing, Penn.; a son, James H. Deitz of Marietta, Ga.; a brother, • Rev. Franklin S. Deitz qi Berne; and an uncle, Lewis Haverly of West Berne. There are five grandchildren: Michael Wurzler of Fargo,, N.D.; Mrs. Michael .(Cheryl) O'Neil of Wyalusing, Penn.; Mark Wurzler ofWyalusing arid Rickey arid Brian Cook of Marietta, Ga. Other survivors include three great-grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial gifts may be sent to the First Reformed Church of Berne or the Berne Ambulance Fund, Berne, N.Y. 12023.
