Birth

Mr. Skinner was born in Berne, New York,[1] on November 23, 1907.[2], the son of William C. Skinner (AUG 1868 - 5 MAY 1927) and Harriet S. Filkins (MAR 1870 - 1953). Their children were:[3]

  • Nettie F. Skinner (9 JUL 1894 - 13 MAY 1989)
  • Minnie I. Skinner (21 APR 1896 - 2 APR 1996)
  • Lewis D. Skinner (ABT 1904 - BEF 1988)
  • Leona Skinner (ABT 1906 - AFT 1988)
  • Earl W. Skinner (30 APR 1912 - 22 SEP 2000)

Marriage and Children

Harold married Margaret Rose Shutter. They had no children.[1]

Occupation

Harold was employed as a refrigeration repair specialist by RTA, Albany, retiring in 1968. Before that, he had worked for the Albany Hardware Co. for several years. After his retirement, he worked part time for Drew's Appliance Co., Albany.[1]

Military Service

Mr. Skinner was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving with the Sea Bees in the Pacific Theater.[1]

Death

Harold, of Kenwood Avenue, Delmar, died Saturday, March 5, 1994, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Hospital, Albany, after a brief illness.[1]

Burial

Mr. Skinner was buried in Bethlehem Cemetery, Delmar, New York, on March 7, 1994.[1]

Harold C. Skinner, 86, of Kenwood Avenue, Delmar, died Saturday in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Hospital, Albany, after a brief illness. Mr. Skinner was born in Berne. He had lived in Delmar since 1941. He was employed as a refrigeration repair specialist by RTA, Albany, retiring in 1968. Before that, he had worked for the Albany Hardware Co. for several years. After his retirement, he worked part time for Drew's Appliance Co., Albany. Mr. Skinner was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving with the Sea Bees in the Pacific Theater. He was also a licensed light aircraft pilot. He was the widower of Margaret Rose Shutter Skinner. Survivors include a sister, Minnie Strevell of Scotia; and a brother, Earl Skinner of Ravena. A service will be 1 p.m. today in the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar, with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery, Delmar. A calling hour will be noon to 1 p.m. today in the funeral home.
