Daniel was born in Westerlo on July 14, 1840, a son of Jeremiah Rundell and Hannah Eliza Lockwood. He was orphaned before 1865.

He married Lucy Lake, who was born in 1848, a daughter of Curtis and Sarah Lake, on February 4, 1868 and moved with his family to Almena, Norton Co., KS. They had the following known children:

Death
Lucy died in 1915. He died on December 11, 1922. Both are buried at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Almena, Norton Co., KS.
