EARL J. STURGESS
Earl J. Sturgess of 20 Maple Ave;, Unadilla (Otsego Co.), formerly of Knox, died Tuesday, Dec. 16 at the hospital in Sidney (Delaware Co.). He was 87. Born in Knox, Mr. Sturgess was a retired employee of the New York State Thruway Authority. He was a charter member of the former Helderberg Grange and a member of the former United Methodist Church, both located in Township. • He had also served the Town of Knox as town clerk'and historian: His wife, Erna Weatherwax, died in 1982. Survivors include a son, Lewis W. Sturgess of UnadiUa; a daughter, Dr. Jeanette S. Lamb of Nixa, Mo.; a sister, Dorothy (Mrs. Howard) Schoonmaker of Berne; seven grandchildren, two greatgrandchildren, a nephew and several nieces. He was also the brother of the late Victor C. and Keith W. Sturgess. Funeral and committal services were held Sunday, Dec. 21 at Westcott Funeral Home, UnadiUa. Burial was in Knox Cemetery.
