Lewis Toles Sturgess was born Sept 8,1869, the son of Edmund Charles Sturgess and Nancy E Quay, the daughter of John Jacob Quay and Elizabeth Hane. His siblings were:

Sturgess -- Weatherwax
The marriage of Miss Erna I. Weatherwax, daughter of Mrs. Nettie Weatherwax of 140 Washington Avenue, Albany, and Earl J. Sturgess, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Sturgess of Altamont, took place Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Madison Avenue Reformed church. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Henry A. Vruwink.
The bride, who wore a gown of Alice blue georgette with slippers and hat to match, was attended by her sister, Miss Ethel Weatherwax, who wore dusty rose georgette with slippers and hat in matching shade. Both wore shoulder corsages of roses and lilies of the valley. After a wedding trip to Buffalo Mr. and Mrs. Sturgess will be at home in Altamont. The bride is a graduate of the Albany High school and Mr. Sturgess attended the Altamont High School.

Sturgess Now in Austria U. S. Forces, Austria - Army Pfc. Lewis Sturgess, 23, whose wife, Ellen, lives at 19 McCulloch Ave, Ravena, recently arrived in Austria and is now a member of the 890th Medical Company.
Sturgess, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl J. Sturgess, R. D. 1 Altamont, entered the Army in January of last year. He was graduated from Albany College of Pharmacy in 1952.

Sturgess--Sand
The wedding of Victor C. Sturgess, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Sturgess of Township, and Ida Belle Sand, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Sand of Knox, took place at the Knox Reformed Church on Wednesday, Nov. 4th, at. 2 p. m. Rev. Norman Vander Hart performed the ceremony.
The bridfe was attired in an empire dress of blue flat crepe, and carried pink roses. She was attended by her sister, Miss Esther Sand, who wore a Spanish, tile colored dress and carried tea roses. Keith Sturgess, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Mrs. Sturgess is a graduate of Altamont High, school, class of 1929. Mr. Sturgess also attended Altamont High school.
After a reception held at the home of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Sturgess left for a trip through northern New York and Canada. They will be at home to their friends after Nov. 15th at their residence in Township.
