Stanley Williams, 65, Knox, Dies Suddenly

Town's Democratic Leader A Victim Of Heart Attack Tuesday Night

Stanley Williams, 65, Albany county sealer of weights and measure for twenty years, died suddenly Tuesday night at his home in Knox. He was victim of a heart attack.

A native of Knox, he was the son of the late Elam' and Catherine Allen Williams, and was born in 1878, descendant of one of the first settlers of the Knox area. In fact, Mr. Williams could trace his ancestry to one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.

In conjunction with his post as sealer of weights and measures, he served on year as president of the State association. He was a member of the Albany Lodge, B. P. O. E. and Berne Lodge, F. & A. M. He was also a member of the Knox Methodist church.

A life long Democrat, he was long active in the political affairs of that party and was Democratic leader of the Knox for more than 25 years. He at one time served as chairman of the Albany county democratic party.

For many years he had conducted a general store in Knox, and also served as postmaster. In early life he was married to Sarah Little of Albany, now Deceased. In 1940 he was married to Agnes O'Keefe of Albany, who survives him, as does one sister, Mrs. Claude Hane of Knox.

Funeral services will be held from his late home in Knox this (Friday) afternoon at 2 o'clock. Masons held a Masonic service last night at eight o'clock. Officiating at the funeral today will be Rev. Alfred V. Patton of Castleton-on-Hudson. Burial will be in St. Agnes cemetery, Albany.
